Paris Fashion Doll Convention, March 17, 18 & 19, 2006 The Paris fashion doll convention was held the weekend of March 17th this year, at the hotel Novotel Bagnolet, and it was, as always, am exciting, fun-filled event. The Friday evening cocktail saw the unveiling of two limited edition dolls, a Tyler and an Alex, each with a production number of 50 only! Collectors had the opportunity to purchase these dolls, while enjoying the presentations. La Flambe Tyler exclusive Alex, by Madame Alexander Saturday dawned bright and sunny, a perfect day for the luncheon cruise on the Seine. The delicious meal was accompanied with commentary on all the major sites along the Seine river, and concluded with the presentation of the new French Model, Emilie, a limited edition exclusive for the event. The Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty exclusive Emilie doll Our wonderful bilingual guides A view of the Grand Palais Saturday evening's banquet was held at the hotel with a full programme of presentations. The dinner was followed by the annual Fashion show, with collectors presenting the lifesize version of their favorite dolls. The exclusive Barbie and Sydney dolls were presented at the end of the evening, to the delight of all the participants. The Wizard of Oz... Mme Martine Guibelin-Richez as Aqua Angelina The weekend concluded with Sunday's salesroom and the doll contest. The theme this year was 'publicity ads' and the results were simply stunning. The distribution of the prizes heralded the end of the Convention, with collectors already looking ahead to the next one! This year's national doll convention's theme is to return to play like we all used to play when we were children. We hope to see you all at our 8th annual national doll convention organized by the Doll Collectors' Club Italia, together with the Florence Antique Toy Fair, on November 27th, 2005, at the Hotel Delta Florence in Calenzano (just outside of Florence, Italy). ***** DOLLiversary M&M exhibits: Mauro Agnolini, the president of the Doll Collectors' Club Italia, and Mauro Marchetti, doll artist, will present a collection of OOAK giftsets related to the theme of the convention for charity purposes. ***** Your DOLLiversary: The creative contest of the Doll Collectors' Club Italia is open to everybody. This year's rules are: Create a giftset (one set with oneor more dolls, plus accessories or outfits). The giftset must have elements of the number "10" (i.e. ten hats, ten shoes, etc.) The public will vote for the best three creations. Also, the 'Premio Club' will be chosen separately. ***** Dolls4Children will host a special sale of donated dolls and an on-line charity auction with Ebay Italia starting at 1 euro. The proceeds of the sale will go to Il Telefono Azzuro, the association which helps abused children. Doll Collectors' Club Italia supports selected non-profit organizations. Two ways to support this event: *Donate dolls. *Visit the booth and leave with a handful of dolls! The latest news! Our new initiative, especially for doll artists: This year Doll Collectors' Club Italia would like to involve doll artists for a charity on-line auction. If you're interested in participating in the auction, please send your proposal with a colored detailed design sketch and a short description of your project to pinkpower66@yahoo.com by September 30, 2005. From the projects we receive, the DCCI will select the dolls for this ebay auction. The choice of the dolls is the decision of the DCCI. If your project is selected, the finished doll must be exactly like the doll in your original proposal. ***** Krista Candler will return from California again this year. Paris Fashion Doll Convention 2005 As always the Paris Fashion Doll Convention was an exciting, fun-filled event. The 11th annual Paris convention took place from the 18th to the 20th of last month, with many of the familiar attractions, plus a few new ones to the delight of doll fans who flocked to the event.
